Terms of use
Last updated 2 November 2026
These terms cover the Stentor app and getstentor.com. By using them, you agree to these terms. They're written to be read; if anything is unclear, ask us at support@getstentor.com.
1. Voices: only with consent
Stentor can make a voice that sounds like a real person. That carries responsibility, so these rules matter most:
- Clone only your own voice, or the voice of someone who is present, says the consent line themselves and agrees to it.
- Don't use a voice to pretend to be someone, to mislead people about who is speaking, or to make someone appear to say something they didn't.
- Don't use it for fraud, scams, harassment, defamation, or anything illegal, including deceiving people in elections or getting past voice-based security.
- If your work could be mistaken for a real person speaking, say that it's AI-made where your platform or the law asks you to (for example, YouTube's disclosure for realistic altered content).
The app asks for a recorded consent line with a fresh code, and checks that the voice belongs to the person saying it. These checks help, but you're responsible for how you use any voice.
2. What you make is yours
Your scripts, recordings and voiceovers belong to you. You can use your voiceovers commercially, for example in monetised videos, as long as you follow these terms, the licences of the models you used, and the terms of any service you connected (like ElevenLabs). We don't claim any rights over what you make.
Voiceovers made with Chatterbox models carry an inaudible watermark added by the model, which marks the audio as AI-made. Don't try to remove it.
3. Models and other services
The voice models are made by others and come with their own licences (for example MIT or Apache 2.0, and CC BY 4.0 for Kyutai's Mimi codec). When you download one, its licence applies. Claude Code, Codex, ElevenLabs and Hugging Face are separate services: you use them with your own accounts, under their terms, and pay them directly if they charge.
4. The beta
Stentor is in beta: it may have bugs, and things may change. We'll announce changes that affect you on this site and in the app before they happen, and say what they mean for you. The app's name, logo and software remain ours: please don't resell or redistribute the app itself.
5. No warranty
Stentor is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. AI voices can mispronounce words, and the word check can miss mistakes: listen to your voiceover before you publish it. Keep backups of anything important.
6. Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost income arising from using Stentor, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the past 12 months. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
7. Ending
You can stop using Stentor at any time by deleting it. We may stop providing it, or refuse service to anyone who breaks these terms, especially the rules in section 1.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and announce important changes on this site and in the app's release notes before they take effect.
